BANGALORE: The sleuths of the Organised Crime Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested four associates of notorious rowdy Hebbet Manja, while the gang was preparing to commit dacoity. The police seized a pistol, other lethal weapons and an auto rickshaw from the accused.

Nandish (20), Dhananjaya alias Ramachari (24), Rajesh (21), and Pramod alias Pokri (19) were arrested.

The police said that they were arrested when they were waiting near Madduramma playground in Hanumanthanagar, armed with weapons to rob passersby. Based on a tip off, the police swung into action and arrested them. Among the accused, Nandish along with other associates had allegedly assaulted Dharwad Rural police and had escaped, when the police tried to arrest him. While, Ramachari is an accused in the murder case of STD Chandra, reported in 2004 in Hanumanthanagar police station limits.  A case has been registered in Hanumanthanagar police station in the connection with the case.

In other case, Chikkajala police arrested Vijay (21), Srinivas alias Seena (21), Ravi (24) and Manjunatha alias Santoothi (20),  while they were making preparations to commit robbery at an eucalyptus grove on Bilmaranahalli Road.

The police have recovered a stolen Tata Sumo worth about `3 lakh from them.
