BANGALORE:  The Karnataka State Finance Corporation (KSFC) on Monday donated a Maruti van to Trivikrama Mahadeva, who claims to have buried over 77,882 unclaimed dead bodies in the city. Mahadeva is in this service as Victoria Hospital staffers had failed to admit his mother for treatment  in 1969 and she had died at the hospital gate then.

The Corporation, appreciating his service, has donated him the van to carry on his service in an effective manner. Madan Gopal, managing director of KSFC, considers him to be a living legend. “He is known for his selfless service in giving a decent funeral to unclaimed and abandoned bodies, which not many do. So he needs recognition,” he observed.

Mahadeva, 53, has been felicitated by the State government, NGOs and was also conferred the Namma Bengaluru award.

He was inspired by a Krishna, a person who did a similar service decades ago in Bangalore. It was Krishna who showed the path and guided him in this service. Mahadeva said Karnataka State Police helped him financially and provide `700 for the funeral of each unclaimed body.
