BANGALORE: Officials of BBMP Horticulture Department allegedly misused `113 crore, claimed Janata Dal (Secular) Leader Padmanabha Reddy.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Reddy said that according to the report given by Technical Vigilance Cell under the Commissioner (TVCC), 1,685 works were undertaken by Horticulture department during 2010-11. The report also named 11 horticulture officials including one Joint Director involved in the embezzlement of `113.50 crore which was sanctioned for these works. These officials have violated Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurement (KTTP) act, he alleged.

Further, Reddy said that out of 11 officials, five have been repatriated to their parent departments.

Palike authorities wrote two letters to Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development Department), first on April 15, 2011 and second letter on August 10, 2011 seeking action against the eleven officials. “Its been a year and still officials have not been suspended,” Reddy said.

Reddy said,  “BJP is ruling in BBMP as well as State government. Then why it is not possible to take action against corrupt officials? I suspect some influential MLA is shielding these officials. We want Lokayukta to probe the case.”
