BANGALORE: Five persons including three women diverted the attention of a jeweller and escaped with 130 gram gold  and `15,000 cash. The incident took place at  Labdi Jewellers on Timmaiah Road in Basaweshwaranagar on Tuesday.

According to the police, at about 10 am, the miscreants entered the shop and asked shop owner Amith to show the jewels. Amith, who had just opened the shop asked them to wait until other workers came to the shop.

But the miscreants forced him to show the jewels claiming that they were getting late for a family function and could not wait for a long time.

Bowing to their demand, Amith went inside the storeroom to get the gold ornaments, but the three women had taken the box containing jewels and money from the shop and had left.

Soon after he returned, the other two men  also left the shop saying that they would return after some time.

After they left, he noticed that gold ornaments and cash were missing.

Basaveshwaranagar police, who have registered a case in this connection, obtained the CCTV footage of the shop and are further investigating.
