IPL online betting: Two arrested

BANGALORE: The CCB Police on Thursday busted a cricket betting racket and arrested two online bookies. The police raided the Hotel Rajmahal Comfort in Chikkamaranahalli near Sanjaynagar and arrested Atishkumar (25), a native Arunachal Pradesh and Kunal Narang(29) a native of Mysore.

Police said that they seized 34 mobile phones, a laptop and Rs 15.51 lakh cash from the accusers. Atishkumar, who was residing in the hotel since few months was arrested on April 17 while he was betting through his mobile phone.

The police recovered Rs 61, 000. Further investigations revealed that the booking activity had spread beyond the city limits and they arrested Kunal Narang and recovered Rs 14 lakh. The accused were distributing money after the IPL match results. A case has been registered.
