BANGALORE: The Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC) on Thursday announced that the organisation will offer a scholarship of `7,500 per year under the Social Science Talent Search (SSTS) scholarship programme for 33 students, in collaboration with Bangalore University, Pre-University Board, Karnataka Knowledge Commission and Christ University.

The scheme aims to attract talented youth into the social science disciplines by motivating them about the importance of social sciences in nation-building.

“Social sciences are the key sources for understanding the society, polity, economy and socio-cultural issues that frame lives across the world. The current trend of ‘the best talent’ getting attracted towards technical and other commercial fields leads to an eventual overflow of talents in one direction and will cause social sciences in India to confront dearth of bright minds in years to come. ISEC wants to bridge this gap,” Director at ISEC Dr R S Deshpande said.

Social Science Talent Search Examination will be held every year for students studying at class XII level, with any group combinations, in Bangalore University Jurisdiction.

Exams for the same will be held on May 27.
