BANGALORE: Two miscreants sprayed chemicals into the eyes of the owner of a gold ornaments polishing shop and made away with Rs12 lakh cash in Nagarthpet in Ulsoor Gate police station limits on Monday.

According to police, at around 8.30 pm, two unidentified persons, on the pretext of enquiring about an address, entered the Chandrasen Silver Polishing Shop.

They diverted the attention of the shop owner, Prakash Gadagi, and sprayed chemicals into his eyes. When Gadagi tried to resist, they attacked him with a knife and made away with Rs 12 lakh cash that was kept in the cash box.

Police said the victim was alone at the shop when the incident took place. Gadagi recovered consciousness after a while and informed the police.

The Ulsoor Gate police, who registered a case, suspect that the miscreants might have observed Prakash’s movements and attacked him.

Police added that CCTV cameras were not installed at the shop.

However, police have constituted two special teams to nab the miscreants.
