Lorry rams into house, one killed, 3 injured

BANGALORE: A cleaner was killed and three workers were injured after a speeding lorry rammed into a house at Ramakrishnaiah Layout in Malagala near Sunkadakatte on Friday. The deceased, Krishnamurthy, was a resident of Sunkadakatte. The other victims have been identified as Amir, lorry driver, Mahadev and Rangappa, both workers.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 7.20 am when the lorry, loaded with sand, was going to unload in Sunkadakatte. On the way, the driver lost control and rammed into the house, which was vacant. The cleaner of the lorry,  Krishnamurthy, who was next to the driver was crushed between the wall and the lorry and died on the spot. Other workers who were in the cabin sustained injuries. Police said a bedroom in the house and other material stored inside the house were damaged. Vittal Pujari, an eye witness told Express that the lorry was driven in a negligent manner on the narrow lane and the driver rammed into the house. Passersby who noticed the workers screaming for help shifted them to a hospital.

A case has been registered at Kamakshipalya traffic police station.
