Book Festival begins on a grand note

Book lovers in the city can rejoice. The 10th edition of the annual Bangalore Book Festival, which promises to be bigger, kicked off on Friday. 

Hundreds of shoppers were seen stocking up books on the inaugural day. 

The book festival will be on till December 23 and it offers huge discounts on books, which range from spiritual to fiction and are available in different languages.

This year, the book festival will also have a literature festival,  in which popular authors from various regional languages will take part. The festival is organised by Bangalore Sahityotsava in association with Bangalore Booksellers and Publishers Association. The book festival features 307 stalls set in Tripura Vasani in Palace Grounds. 

“It’s not just a book sale, we can also interact with some of our favourite writers. I am hoping to catch a minute or so with M T Vasudevan Nair,” said Vivek, a visitor. In the next few days, writers Chitra Mudugale and Chandraprakash Deval will take part in discussions.

“Everything from linguistic barriers to poetry will be discussed,” said B S Raghuram, the convenor.

Second-hand booksellers are also present at the venue. “We are offering any four novels for `200.We are confident of selling our entire stock,” said Ganesh.
