Rhapsody of science and arts

From our online archive

A melting pot of scientific blurbs, tech-savvy projects and colourful artworks etched out the blueprint for the two-day science, arts and crafts carnival that unravelled on January 28 at Prince Matriculation HSS, Madipakkam. Students from Classes 6 to 12 from the school’s branches in Madipakkam and Nungambakkam showcased their flair for science with a plethora of working models and exhibits on diverse topics, including food and agriculture, health and nutrition, education, water management, pollution, nuclear hazards and disaster management.

From a discussion on the merits of the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project to unlocking the jumble of the double helical structure of DNA and decoding the working of coal mines, a multitude of explosive concepts enthralled the visitors who thronged the exhibit rooms in the school.

Adding to the excitement in the milieu, funny magic tricks, lighthearted shadow puppetry shows, and a sparkly planetarium notched up the entertainment quotient, and provided a visual treat to the starry-eyed visitors. An array of charcoal and oil paintings, intricately carved soap and wax sculptures and wooden art exhibits that exquisitely captured the wonders of the world, strung together by the junior students from Classes 4 and 5, brimmed with creativity.

The fun-filled fair concluded with a valedictory function on January 29.
