300 students take part in spelling contest

BANGALORE: The fifth annual Spellinc, an inter-school spelling competition, was organised by Linc Pen and Plastics here on Monday.

While the first prize was bagged by Nandita Raghunath, Aishwarya C and Pallavi T from Innisfree House School, Vignesh V, Rahul P R and K Priyanka Vardhini from Himamshu Kala Peetha stood second.  

“It is delightful to see the energy and zeal of the students who participated in the competition. The response has been overwhelming over the past few years and we expect greater participation with each passing year,” said Rohit Jalan, Director, Linc Pen and Plastics Ltd, after distributing the prizes.

Nearly 300 students from various schools across the city participated in the competition. The preliminaries were held in 100 schools in and around the city.

The finals saw the contestants battling for the Spellinc Rolling Trophy, certificates, gift hampers and cash prizes worth Rs 30,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 9,000.

The competition was fierce wherein the students went through various rounds of spellings, crosswords, anagrams and word-making rounds to win the contest.
