A two-day workshop on ‘Science and Engineering – A Journey’ was jointly organised by the Federation of Science Clubs of Tamil Nadu (FSCT) and Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School at IIT Campus, Chennai, on February 17 and 18.
S Namasivayam, senior principal, MVM, welcomed the students, panelists and experts. Eminent academicians and experts in the field threw light on various issues relating to science. Dr M R Srinivasan, senior member and former chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, stressed the need to use the available resources wisely while Dr L S Ganesan, dean of students, IIT-M, urged the students to combine spirituality with science.
Dr Daniel Chellappa, president, FSCT, introduced the various science fields available in the campus. Sankar Ram took the students to the world of automobiles and professor T S Murthy gave an informative lecture on material engineering.
The event gave students an opportunity to interact with the panelists, clear their basic doubts and gain knowledge on scientific issues.
