BANGALORE: A 37-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his wife and mother-in-law at their residence in Garvebaviplaya in Madivala on Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Rajappa. Police arrested his wife Nandini, 34, and her mother Sharadamma, 52, in connection with the murder. The couple were tailors at a garment factory, while Sharadamma was a helper at a private school in Garvebaviplaya. The family resided in the house that was provided to Sharadamma by the school authority.

According to the police, Rajappa went home in inebriated condition on Sunday night and his wife picked up a quarrel over drinking on the New Year’s day. Raged over her behaviour, Rajappa allegedly banged her head into the floor. Meanwhile, Sharadamma pleaded him to leave her daughter. As he continued to harass, Sharadamma tried to stop him. “In the melee, Sharadamma hit his head, which made Rajappa attack both the women. Unable to control him, the duo hit Rajappa with the wooden plank and he died of excessive bleeding,” the police explained.
