BANGALORE: City on the occasion of New Year got an opportunity to witness the distinctive monument when the India’s tallest statue of Jesus Christ was unveiled. This monument located at Veeranna Palya, Nagawara Lake, is in memory of late T Chinnaswamy Reddy.
The statue stood majestic at the height of 29 feet and width of 12 feet. The statue of Biblical proportions which came up in Bangalore is the creation of sculptor D Vijikar and his team.
Contiguous to the Biblical Garden, is a five-star cemetery, celebrating both life and death. The cemetery had a beautifully landscaped garden, enchanting fountains, decorative lighting during night and a rock garden. The AIGSA also honoured the sculptors who have made this Biblical Garden, as part of its efforts to promote stone monuments not only had long-lasting aesthetic value, but also had huge potential for exports.
Though India has contributed to the world with many prestigious monument projects such as Holocaust museum in Washington, Vietnam war Memorial in Washington; Hiroshima Atom Bomb Memorial in Japan, Health Spa Memorial in the Black forest of Germany etc the market has remained untapped to a large extent.
The AIGSA has been encouraging sculptors, designers and the stone industry to work in cohesion to further boost Indian export.
Along with the towering statue, Bangalore is going in the record books to have a Biblical garden with masterpieces of sculptures, depicting the life of Jesus Christ. The exquisitely carved sculptures narrate the story of Jesus Christ from the Lord’s birth in Bethlehem to his crucifixion.
