BANGALORE: Bangalore Baptist Hospital will introduce reproductive medicine (IVF) at its Hebbal-based hospital. Addressing media persons, Dr George Korula, Professor and Head of the Department of Reproductive Medicine and  IVF unit said, “Infertility affects about 10-15 per cent of the population, for which the facilities in this field are limited. Couple find it difficult to cope with the social stigma and psychological issues associated with infertility. Recognising the psychological and sociological implications of infertility, counselling services are available here.”

“The government facilities in this regard are very limited. There is an independent ethical committee at Baptist Hospital that will review complex cases and provide best individual solutions,” he added.

The unit will be inaugrated on January 14  by Dr K K Talwar, chairman of the Medical Council of India in the presence of S V Ranganath, Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka and Dr Suranjan Bhattacharji, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Baptist  Hospital.
