Truck Rams Into Vehicles, 1 Killed

BANGALORE: In a serial accident, a biker was killed and ten vehicles were damaged after a cement truck rammed into vehicles near Nayandahalli BDA underpass on Friday morning.

The deceased, Brahmeshwar, 49, was a resident of Srinivasapura in Banashankari and an electrical contractor. The driver of a Mahindra jeep that was damaged in the incident is also injured and has been hospitalised. His identity is yet to be established.

According to the police, a 10 wheeler cement truck was coming from Chandra Layout to join Mysore Road. Near the underpass, some vehicles were waiting at the signal. The speeding lorry, without noticing the vehicles in the dark, rammed into the vehicles.

Due to the impact, the vehicles hit by the lorry further rammed into vehicles parked in front of them.

Brahmeshwar sustained grave injuries in the accident and was shifted to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

The jeep driver was also shifted to a hospital.

“Seven cars, a lorry, a jeep and a bike were damaged in the incident. The lorry driver managed to flee the scene, as there was chaos due to accident,” the police said.

Bytarayanapura police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the lorry driver.
