Handloom weaves in silk and cotton

BANGALORE: Revathi Creative Communication Private Limited, Hyderabad, organised Weaves, the cotton and silk spectrum exhibition-cum-sale in the city recently to promote the weavers their products such as ethnic varieties of handloom in India. This initiative is being undertaken over the last five years and the objective of the exhibition-cum-sale is to uplift the weavers community by creating new markets and also by making them economically strong. This event is organised in 20 cities across the country including Vijayawada, Vishakapatnam, Guntur, Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Cochin, Trivandrum, Thrissur, Kottayam and Bangalore.

At the event, weavers displayed an array of handloom silk and cotton sarees, dress materials, kurtas, stoles, home furnishings and also a collection of designer wear in Indian handloom. The exhibition aimed to display handlooms from almost every state of India such as the Kalamkari, Gadwal, Uppada, Dharmavaram, Pochampally, Venkatgiri and Mangalgiri to name a few. The collection caters to all age group.

The exhibition will held till January 29 at Hotel Lalit Ashok, from 11 am to 4 pm.
