Tattoos are extremely stylish but they need to be treated right

Sharon Natasha

Tattoo, for today’s youth, symbolises something cool, sexy or even brave with all the needles piercing through your skin. A tattoo is something that will stay with you throughout your life. Most people get something significant in their lives tattooed on their skin so that it will stay with them forever. Tattoos might be stylish and hot, but it is after- all a wound that needs to be created well and treated right.

Right kind of techniques should be used in creating it. A badly done tattoo can lead to skin infections and HIV/AIDS if the needles used are not hygienic. The common misconceptions of getting a tattoo is that it hurts a lot and bleeds profusely. Yes, it is painful  but not unbearable and there is very less bleeding involved. It is extremely necessary that the tattoo artist you are visiting should have clean and hygienic equipment, licence and experience. Before getting the tattoo, you should make sure that the artist uses an autoclave, used in hospitals to sterilize equipment, and make sure that the needle is safe to be used on your skin.

Be completely honest with your tattoo artist about any skin disease that you might have. Hiding anything might lead to complications. It is definitely not advised to blindly get a tattoo done. Remember that it is ten times more expensive to remove the tattoo than to get it done.

Plastic surgery and laser treatment are the only solutions. Dr  Rajesh, A-Z polyclinic said as he commented about tattoos, “Tattoos are something that will stay for your entire life and it very important that you get it done in the right way. Many skin infections are a possibility and one can be affected by the most dangerous disease like HIV/AIDS if proper needles and precautions are not used while getting a tattoo done. As of now, there are no new problems that have been discovered but it is always better to be extremely careful.”A rising trend in the world of tattooing is the completion of a design with all white ink. There are several high-profile celebrities who are sporting white tattoos and a popular choice seems to be a delicate design on the wrist, such as cursive script. Traditionally, tattoo artists primarily use white ink to highlight small parts of a design. The style of using white ink throughout the tattoo, however, is gaining a lot of attention. There are many reasons why a person might choose a white ink tattoo. While many people think of tattoos as bold public statements, this isn’t always the case.

Tattoos are often personal and are sometimes completely concealed. White ink tattoos are very subtle and delicate. There are advantages of a white ink tattoo that do not come with a normal tattoo. For instance, some people have careers that do not mix well with tattoos on the forearms, hands and other visible places.

The delicate nature of a white ink tattoo can easily avoid that limitation. White ink tattoos are not invisible, mind you. Why would you spend money on one if it were?

A white ink tattoo may sound appealing to you, but there are plenty of disadvantages to consider. You may have already encountered problems when discussing the style with an artist. The simple fact is, not many artists will agree to a white ink tattoo and almost none will guarantee the tattoo.

This is due to the unpredictable nature of the tattoo. While the colour works really well when highlighting a coloured design, an all over white tattoo may not look very attractive.

“I have three tattoos. One is the crown of thorns and it reminds me of the hardships I have faced to get where I am today. Second is that of ‘faith’ written in the Hebrew language and it has six flowers around it representing 6 most important people in my life and the third is that of courage with a dragon fly that represents courage in the Japanese culture. My tattoos are very dear to me and one should be very careful about getting a tattoo. You can either love your tattoo or hate it, but it’s going to be with you for life,” said Harshitha Bhaskar, a student of Jyoti Nivas College as she spoke of her tattoos.
