Carry confidence to exam hall, not fear

BANGALORE: The arrival of the month March always sets in with symptoms of fear and tension among students.

Blame it on immense parental pressure or other influences, sources indicate that suicide among students has surged.

Experts opine parents should avoid building up unreasonable pressure on children, demanding them to score high marks.

They say this can often be counterproductive and de-motivating for children.

Examinations cause panic not only in students appearing for the exams but also in parents.

Explaining the reasons, psychiatrists say, “Rather than pressurising children to get high scores in exams, parents should morally support the children to keep them in a positive frame of mind.

But parents end up mounting pressure without recognising their child’s capability.”
