BANGALORE: Citizens of Bangalore will now have another art gallery which is dedicated to Dr N G Pavanje, one of the most illustrious artists of the country.

The new art gallery was inaugurated at Mythic Society on Sunday by Chiranjiv Singh, retired chief secretary. Singh said, Dr Pavanje influenced the art movement in Karnataka and more particularly in old Mysore. The number of artists he produced are amazing. He lives through the works of his disciples.

He also urged upon Pavanje’s family members to collect all his paintings and to write a book on him. Prof S Ramaswamy said, “Pavanje was an expert on Western art. But he remained 100 per cent Indian. It must be noted that he never used red and black colours in his works.”
