BANGALORE: With summer hitting hard, Bangaloreans are finding it increasingly difficult to cope up with the sudden change in the climatic conditions. However, this has brought cheer and good news for the dealers and manufactures in air coolers, air conditioners and ceiling fans as they confirm that sales had gone up drastically

during this period.

When City Express interacted with a few dealers in air coolers and ceiling fans, reactions were very positive across the city. The store manager of Shringar Home Appliances in Jayanagar, Hemanth Jain said, “We have been selling at least 300 ceiling fans per day. We observed the sudden shift in sales from ordinary electronic gadgets to ceiling fans from February 15.” On the sales of air coolers, he affirmed that they are selling a minimum of 5-6 air coolers per day.

Voicing a similar opinion, store manager of Viveks, Sunil Kumar said, “The sales of air coolers stands at 6-8 per day, and air conditioner from 4-5.” He further added, “I have also observed that the last 5-6 days, the sales of air coolers and air conditioners had witnessed a steep rise. Earlier, we used to sell just 1-2 air coolers per day.”

When we interacted with different sections of people in the city, interesting responses came across. Parvathi Devi, a resident of Kormangala, said, “It has become unbearable to withstand the heat of the summer and cooking itself in this weather is a challenge altogether. Every time I cook, I have to take a bath. Even the bed is warm, I have been sleeping on the floor nowadays. And to top it all, constant power cuts is another issue.”

Another citizen, a driver by profession, said, “My wife has been pouring water on the floors to keep the house cool, or else the sweltering heat can make sleeping miserable at times.”

“It is difficult to even think of living without a air conditioner now, be it in my car or my home, it has been on 24/7, says Dheeraj Kumar,” a chips manufacturer. Citizens have found their own ways to deal with the rising heat. However, the best way is to prevent your house from getting too hot. Make sure your house is properly insulated.
