BANGALORE: The High Court on Monday directed the Fortis Hospital to file objections in connection with the death of a patient due to alleged negligence of doctors on May 6, 2010, and directed the Health Department to conduct a new inquiry based on the Lokayukta report.

The petitioner Pankaj Rai’s wife Seema, admitted to Fortis Hospital for kidney transplantation, had alleged the hospital had transplanted liver and pancreas simultaneously though it did not possess licence for transplantation of pancreas.

Hearing the petition, the division bench comprising Justices Vikramajit Sen and B V Nagarathna directed the hospital to file objections in two weeks and adjourned the matter.  Following her death, the petitioner had filed a complaint with KMC.
