‘Bera had no enemies’

BANGALORE: Ashish Bera, elder brother of Nitish Bera, who was abducted and killed near Dobbspet, said the victim had no enemies. “We are clueless about the culprits. His family was staying in a rented house and he was building a house near his shop. He died before he could complete it,” he said.

Bera, a native of Kolkata, was residing in the city for the last 19 years and was supplying gold jewels to wholesale dealers. There were about 15 workers in his shop.

Second such case

This is the second kidnap and murder of a jeweller in the last two months. On February 8, Manoj Kumar Grandhi, 44, chairman and managing director of Vaibhav Empire Private Ltd in Dwarakanagar of Visakhapatnam, who had come to the city had gone missing. The following day, his body was found in Charmadi Ghats.

The cab driver, along with his associates, had kidnapped and murdered Manoj after realising that he was carrying jewels worth over Rs 1 crore.The accused was arrested later.
