Please enthrone yourself here forever and fill every thought, word and action with your boundless love. Trigger the constant awareness of your presence within me and dissolve the darkness of my ego with your light.” Do this every day during your meditation. If you already have a spiritual Master, his grace will envelope you and begin the transformation. If you do not have a Master, it will invoke his presence and grace in you and invite him into your life. My friend, fill your life with the grace of your Master and continue to meditate in this way for seven days. We will then resume our journey together to understand the state of witnessing.
Becoming a Witness
My dear friend, you have now understood the working of your ego and realised that your Master is the outer reflection of your own soul. The vibrational frequency of your Master is synchronous with the vibrational frequency of your own soul. When you realised the futility of battling with the ego on your own, you established your Master in your spiritual heart and prayed to him to dissolve your ego. Now you are tuning in to the vibrations of your soul by constantly being aware of your Master’s presence within you.
Now that you are fully established in the state of love, peace and bliss, let us understand how this makes you a witness who observes life as a detached spectator.
What does it mean to be a detached spectator or witness? A few simple examples will help us to understand this. From the time we wake up in the morning, we have a constant companion who is very faithful to us and follows us wherever we go. This is our shadow. It walks when we walk, stands when we stand and sits when we sit. However, even when we walk on a well paved track, our shadow may be thrown on a thorny shrub, muddy puddle or heap of garbage. As we pick our way safely through heavy traffic, cars and buses may run over our shadow. In spite of all this, it does not grumble or complain. It does not howl, scream or have an outburst of anger. Whether it is on a soft cushion or a hard plank of wood, it is always calm and quiet.
This should be the state of our own mind as we go through life. We should accept life as it comes without filling the mind with fears, anxieties and worries. Today the worries in our mind are more numerous than all the blades of grass in the world put together.
