DJ complains of police harassment

Express News Service

Following a complaint by DJ Sasha Sambi alleging assault and harassment by traffic police, the Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) has ordered an inquiry into the case.

Sasha, in his complaint, alleged that the Old Airport traffic police had “brutally assaulted” him when he was heading home with his wife in a car on September 30th night after stopping them to check drunk driving.

He complained that he was “slapped, kicked and beaten with lathis” by 7-8 police men when he questioned why a policeman spoke rudely to his wife while testing for alcohol content. He claimed they had not consumed alcohol at that time.

Sasha said later he was let off with the car after his friends came to the  station and spoke to the sub-inspector about the “assault.”
