NCTE issues notice to 7 MEd colleges

Express News Service

National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the apex regulatory body for teacher education, has issued show cause notices to seven MEd colleges under Bangalore University (BU), a decision it took in its 233rd meeting of the southern regional committee.

The NCTE has intervened following an interim report of the BU Task Force on Teacher Education that these seven colleges do not fully comply with NCTE norms.

The university’s Academic Council had barred the colleges from making admissions under the management quota.

The colleges are Vijaya Teachers College, Gold Field College of Education (Kolar), St Paul’s MEd College, Smt Mehra’s College of Education, SJES College of Education, Bangalore City College of Education and KIET College of Education.

The NCTE has withdrawn recognition of the BEd course offered by Shrinidhi College of Education, Bangalore.
