A mason allegedly killed his younger brother over a trivial issue at their home in Sanegoruvanahalli in Basaveshwaranagar on Monday night.
The deceased, Srinivas, 24, was a cab driver. His brother, Naveen, 32, has been arrested.
Police said Srinivas, Naveen, their brother Balaraju, also a cab driver, and friends Ramesh and Ravi were consuming alcohol at their home on Monday night.
It is said that Srinivas and Naveen started quarreling over changing a TV channel. While they continued to quarrel, others came out of the house. But Naveen, under the influence of alcohol, picked up a brawl and stabbed Srinivas in his thigh and shoulders.
The latter, who tried to escape, lost balance and fell from the first floor of the building.
“Meanwhile, Balaraju and friends who were standing outside, rushed Srinivas to a hospital where he succumbed in the night.
Following a complaint by Balaraju, Naveen was arrested,” the police said.
Basaveshwaranagar police have registered a murder case. Police said Naveen was very fond of Srinivas.
“The brothers were very close and Naveen always tried to help Srinivas to come up in life. But, it is sad that he killed his brother under the influence of alcohol and he is feeling guilty for doing such a thing,” the police added.
Woman Loses Gold to Chain Snatcher
Just a stone throw away distance from Basavanagudi police station, an unidentified man escaped snatching a gold chain from a 50-year-old woman on Tuesday night.
Police said Draupadi, 50, a resident of Suprajanagar near Konanakunte, runs a shop on Uttaradi Mutt Road. On Tuesday around 10.15 pm, she was returning home on her moped.
While passing near Tagore Circle Underpass, a biker snatched her gold chain weighing 60 grams and sped away.
The Basavanagudi police have registered a case.
