Inspec has 13 million records

Express News Service

Engineering and technical resource database Inspec now has 13 million records, which makes it the most extensive database of engineering and technical literature. Its publisher, Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), made the announcement recently. As of now, Inspec holds over 13 million resource material in the field of electronics, computer science, physics, electrical, control, production and mechanical engineering.

Daniel Smith, head of academic publishing at IET, said, “Inspec is as much to do with the quality of content, from journal articles, conference proceedings, books and video, as the quantity of its records. Thirteen million is a significant milestone, but what defines Inspec is that the research indexed by the database is of the highest quality and is driving innovation.”

Unlike free web sources, Inspec’s search index takes into account everything from chemical substance to numerical data, making query results more precise and allowing researchers to retrieve specific information quicker.

Saves time, money

“The database saves time and money and accelerates research activities. Furthermore, that kind of knowledge sharing is vital if we are to continue to help in driving research and leading scientific and technological innovation,” added Smith. Students, professional engineers, technicians, scientists and others interested in technical research and literature can visit www.theiet.org/inspec for more details.
