Panel on waste management set up

Express News Service

In order to manage waste in a scientific manner, the KSPCB has constituted a state-level ‘Waste Management Advisory Committee’ according to the provisions of Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.

The committee comprises 12 members with the chairman of KSPCB holding the chairmanship of it. The term of members is one year.

“Due to lack of management, waste management has become a challenging task. Adding to this is the extraneous waster from other countries. The pollution board during processing of applications for projects are facing difficulty due to lack of comprehensive technical information available from the departments/NGOs/the stakeholders,” said KSPCB Chairman A S Sadashivaiah.

To enforce the rules of Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 effectively, the board felt the necessity of having a committee of experts from various fields.
