With the monsoon setting in, it becomes extremely important to take extra care of your pets. Follow these five points to ensure that your pet stays healthy during this season.

Vaccination and deworming: It is essential that your pet is regularly vaccinated. Regular vaccination keeps the pet away from diseases and also ensures safety of the owners in case of biting and scratching. It is also very important to administer deworming medicines to keep the pet healthy. Regular check ups are advised.

Feeding pattern: Most often pet owners are unaware that feeding patterns differ for each pet. However, it’s essential that the pets receive a proper diet. The pet should not be overfed or given insufficient nutrition. It’s advisable to consult a good veterinary doctor on the quantity of food and the kind of diet that your pet should follow.

Don’t abandon your pet: Pets must never be left chained or unattended outside the house. They shouldn’t be kept away from the family or in a solitary place. Your furry friends should be able to move freely and play with people. Often pets are left exposed to wet and cold weather. Such things should be avoided.

Exposure to rain: The rains pose a serious threat to animals. Owners must ensure that the animal is not exposed to wet weather. Make sure your pets don’t play in wet grass or slush. This makes them more prone to infection. Special care should be taken to deal with this.

Dry bath: This season also calls for dry bath. Instead of water go for powdering, combing, brushing and grooming. Since moisture gets into the paws of the pet while walking and playing in wet places, legs of the pet should be wiped often to avoid foot-pad infection.
