Express News Service

Against the backdrop of allegations of misuse of power and lobbying, Karnataka State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) Vice-Chairman S C Sharma and Executive Director K M Kaveriappa resigned on Monday morning.

The duo submitted their resignations together to Minister for Higher Education R V Deshpande and Higher Education Principal Secretary Rajneesh Goel. “We have asked them to accept our resignations immediately. We are not after power or anything, and these allegations have hurt us,” said Prof Sharma, whose term as the Tumkur University Vice-Chancellor ended recently.  Prof Sharma’s term as the vice-chairman ends in October 2015 and Prof Kaveriappa has another two years at the KSHEC.
