Colleges heed ABVP's bandh call

Express News Service

Following the bandh call given by the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) to undergraduate colleges affiliated to Bangalore University, a majority of the colleges remained closed on Friday.

As a mark of protest against ‘malpractices’ in the university examination system, thousands of students gathered at Central College campus and staged a demonstration.

K K Seethamma, Registrar (Administration), met the students and tried to convince them. “I promised to look into the issues. We will discuss the same with the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar of Evaluation,” she said.

“Our immediate demand is to solve the discrepancies in the recently-declared BBM results. We want the government to evaluate the examination department and conduct an inquiry,” said ABVP city secretary Raghu Poojar.
