Swiss consul brings a smile on kids' faces

Express News Service

Swiss Consul General Rolf Frei visited Christel House recently to present a perspective on Switzerland, its history and its culture to the children of the school. In an extremely engaging session, children chatted up with Rolf Frei on various aspects of Switzerland including the country’s position as a premium chocolate manufacturing nation.

Frei spent over three hours in the school, conducting a workshop on the natural habitat of Switzerland, its flora and fauna, its climate, the lifestyle of the people, their culture, trends and habits. Switzerland is known for its surplus milk production and for industries associated with milk production, processing and for various milk products, including cheese and chocolates.

Amidst roaring cheers from the children, chocolates and other goodies were distributed during the interaction.

Speaking on the occasion, Rolf Frei said, “Switzerland values education for children and prides itself on its high standard of publicly-funded education. As a country with few natural resources, its prosperity depends, to a large extent, on its intellectual prowess. Christel House is doing well to launch such an initiative on children's education which will shape them to deal with new challenges in the face of changes in society and the world in a most productive manner,” he added.
