'Consider temple staff plea'

Express News Service

The high court on Wednesday directed the State government to consider a representation from employees of historic pilgrim temples seeking to exclude them from the bio-metric attendance system.

Justice V Suri Appa Rao passed the order on a petition filed by Srikanteshwara Temple Employees’ Welfare Association seeking directions to the government to consider the memorandum to not implement the bio-metric system and pass fresh orders.

The government introduced the bio-metric attendance system in temples in January and said that the temple authorities, including priests, were supposed to swipe between 6 am and 6.30 am and between 8 pm and 8.30 pm.
