Express News Service

The High Court on Friday rejected the bail plea filed by R Murugan, the main accused in the murder of Gandhinagar councillor S Nataraj who hacked to death on October 1, 2011.

Police took 40 people into custody after the case took a new turn with the arrest and alleged confession of Murugan 10 days after the murder. Murugan reportedly confessed that former BBMP councillor Ashok B Dani paid Rs 1.5 lakh to kill Nataraj, who had won elections to the Corporation in 2008.

Justice N Anand rejected Murugan’s bail petition following the submission by the public prosecutor that the accused had confessed that he had taken money.
