BANGALORE: The Karnataka Private Post-graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA)  will conduct the Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) on August 3 for the unfilled MBA and MCA seats.

The association took this  decision at a meeting in the city on Wednesday, attended by representatives from about 80 colleges offering the two courses.

The Post-graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) was supposed to be the only test to determine admissions to MBA and MCA courses, but it managed to attract only 10,096 candidates for MBA and 4,444 for MCA.  “The intake for MBA is about 30,000 and that for MCA is around 17,000. As there was a shortfall in the number of applications, we will conduct KMAT to fill the remaining seats,” said M Prakash, secretary, KPPGCA.

More than 6,000 students have already applied to write KMAT through its website www.kmatindia.com. Prakash said KMAT will also provide opportunities for non-Karnataka students.

The test consists of objective-type questions, with language comprehension and mathematical skills the common papers for both MBA and MCA.

But MBA aspirants will have to write a basic aptitude paper, while MCA aspirants will have a logical reasoning test.
