Sachin... Has Opened Many Doors for Me: Mohan Shankar

I will be a satisfied director once we get 80 per cent collection in Karnataka.

A Sharadhaa

BANGALORE: Director Mohan Shankar is on cloud nine as his film Sachin! Tendulkar Alla has been receiving rave reviews from the audience and also from the film fraternity in Hyderabad.

The dubbed version of Sachin.. in Telugu was recently watched by actor Chiranjeevi, directors Raghavendra Rao and Vishwanath along with the Sachin... team, and we hear that the director was showered with praises.

Mohan says, “Apparently, Suhasini mentioned the film in a casual chat with Chiranjeevi sir and he had asked to watch the film. So we arranged a screening in Hyderabad for the actor-turned-politician and he was joined by a few other actors and directors of Tollywood. The response was overwhelming. After watching the film, Chiranjeevi said that he was reminded of Lagaan. Sachin... is going viral in Telugu. Dasari Narayan Rao will be watching it soon and the dubbed version will be released in Hyderabad on August 1.”

What is more exciting for the Sachin... team is that there are talks of the film being remade in Tamil and Hindi.

“Kutti Padmini has bagged the remake rights of the film and is planning to make it in Hindi. Blu-Ray CDs of the film have reached actresses Vidya Balan and Rani Mukherjee. If Vidya agrees to do the film, then it will be made under Reliance or UTV banner. If Rani says yes, then it will be done under Yash Chopra production,” says Mohan.

“I can’t believe my film is going across India. I am very excited because this success is coming after a long struggle. Sachin... has opened many doors for me. We have received 60 per cent of collection in Karnataka. However, rain has played spoilsport this season. I will be a satisfied director once we get 80 per cent collection from here,” he adds.
