Now, Protect Your Data While Using Apps

Express News Service

Social networking site Facebook has introduced a new login option which will allow one to use smartphone applications anonymously.

Currently, many apps ask users who log in through social networking sites to allow them to access their friends list and post on their behalf. But now, Facebook provides users with the option of an anonymous login, in which no information the user’s  Facebook account is shared with the app. The anonymous login can later be updated to reflect one’s Facebook details. The updated login screen will also let the user disable sharing personal information with the app.

Facebook’s engineering manager Jeffrey Spehar said the idea is to give users more control over what they share. “The new Facebook login lets people edit information they provide.”

Facebook will also start reviewing the login process to check for apps which ask for too many permissions. “During the login review, we’ll look at and approve  permissions that apps request,” Spehar said.
