Entrance Exam for Sainik School Admission

PUDUCHERRY: The nationwide entrance examination for admission to Classes 6 and 9 in Sainik School, Amaravathi Nagar, for the academic year 2015-16 will be held on January 4, 2015.

According to a press release, only boys aged between 10 and 11 on July 1, 2015 (born between July 2, 2004, and July 1, 2005) are eligible for admission to Class 6 and boys aged between 13 and 14 on July 1, 2015 (born between July 2, 2001 and July 1, 2002) and studying in Class 8 in a recognised school are eligible for admission to Class 9.

English will be the medium for entrance examination to Class 9. For Class 6, children can write in English, Tamil, Hindi and other regional languages.

Application forms will be sold by the school from October 15 to November 29. For prospectus and application forms,  the remittance of `650 for General/Defence categories and `500 for SC/ST categories (inclusive of registration fee, cost of old question paper, documentary DVD and postal charges) must be made through demand draft (DD) drawn on State Bank of India, Amaravathi Nagar (Branch code 2191) in favour of ‘Principal, Sainik School, Amaravathi Nagar’ along with a covering letter mentioning postal address, clear indication of standard to which admission is sought (6/9) and the category (SC/ST/Defence/General).  The medium of examination should also be indicated for Class 6.

Based on the parents’ income, the government of Tamil Nadu/Ministry of Defence has sanctioned a scholarship of up to `50,000 per annum per student.
