BANGALORE: A film set for the Kannada flick Mr and Mrs Ramachari worth several lakhs caved in due to the heavy rains that lashed the city on Monday. Made on the outskirts of Bangalore, the set was destroyed by the strong wind and continuous rain, leading to a loss of over RS 40 lakh for producer Jayanna.
"We were shooting an extravagant song for which we had allocated a budget of RS 75 lakh. It was a five-day schedule and we shot the first part at Minerva Mills. The set for the next sequence was made on a huge field near Nelamangala. But everything crumbled in the rains overnight and we couldn't do anything to fix it," Jayanna explained.
The expenses for the song might now cross a crore, which will include the loss of RS 40 lakh, he said.
"We did not expect this. If we had, we would've taken some precautions by postponing the schedule. I have to cough up another RS 40 lakh in the coming weeks to raise a similar set," he added.
The producer now plans to wait for the rains to recede before taking it further.
"The song sequence will feature 100 dancers along with the lead pair Yash and Radhika Pandit. I wouldn't want to take a risk once again and cause trouble for all of them. I would rather wait and choose the right day to start shooting," Jayanna further said.
