BENGALURU: Following the upper air trough in the atmosphere which is extending from Gujarat to Kanyakumari and cyclone and cyclonic circulation over Kanyakumari to Sri Lanka, many parts of Karnataka received rains on Sunday as well.
Indian Meteorological Department officials said that due to these conditions, many parts of interior Karnataka, south interior Karnataka received good rains. Rainfall in Gulbarga and Bidar district was above 5 cm, they said. “There will be rains for four days in these regions” said an official.
“The observatory recorded 1.8mm rainfall in Bengaluru at 5:30 pm. Rains lashed the city later as well,” said an official.
According to officials these pre-monsoon rains will occur in the evening and last for three to four hours.
Trees Uprooted, Houses Flooded: Following rains in Bengaluru, the BBMP Control room received complaints of tree uprooting and houses being flooded from various parts of the city. At Vidyarayapura, Kuvempunagar and Natraj Theatre Road, trees were uprooted and houses in Doddabomsandra and Kalappa Agrahara were flooded.

According to the Department’s bulletin, on Sunday, Gangapura and Chincholi in Kalaburagi received 7cm of rainfall. Sulepet (Kalaburagi district) and Bidar recorded 6cm each. Bimalkhed (Bidar dt), Nelogi (Kalaburagi dt), Madhugiri (Tumakuru dt), Magadi (Ramanagaram dt) got 5cm each. Jeewargi (Kalaburagi dt), Chitaguppa (Bidar dt), Sandur (Ballari dt) 4cm each. Kanabargi (Belagavi dt), Bagalkot, Humnabad (Bidar dt), Alland, Kalgi, Yedrami, Sedam (Kalaburagi dt), Raichur, Raichur AGRO, Bengaluru, Napoklu (Kodagu dt) 3cm each.
