'No Pre-Poll Surveys or Exit Polls'

BENGALURU: The State Election Commission (SEC) has directed all political parties and candidates to stop public campaigning for the BBMP polls from Thursday. 

Speaking to Express on Tuesday, State Election Commissioner P N Srinivasachari said for Assembly or Lok Sabha elections, public campaigning should be stopped 48 hours before the election process ends. But for the BBMP election, it is 48 hours before the polling commences.

The commissioner said campaigning through bulk SMSes is not allowed.  Also, pre-poll survey or exit poll is not encouraged, he added.
