QUEEN’S ROAD: The Kannada film industry has pledged `50 lakh towards relief for those affected by floods in Chennai.

At a meeting on Friday, Sa Ra Govindu, president of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), announced that the funds would be collected in a week and handed over directly to the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

“The KFCC is donating `10 lakh. Apart from this, contributions are coming in from actors, directors, producers, technicians and other workers,” he explained.

While actor-politician Tara has already donated `1 lakh, Prem has given `10 lakh. Actor-politician Ambareesh and Producers’ Association president Munirathna will inform the department concerned about the donation, Govindu added.
