BENGALURU: At the 26th National Tenpin Bowling Championship at Orion Mall, Karnataka’s 16-year-old Misam Rizvi was adjudged as the most promising player of the championships.
The other winner was Sabeena Athica of Tamil Nadu, who collected a number of titles. She is the first woman to make a mark with a record of titles. This is her 9th National title.
In the men’s final, defending champion Dhruv Sarda beat two time former National champion Shabbir Dhankot of Tamil Nadu in two games at 236-223 and 257-224.
Earlier in the day, in the first match of the step ladder round for men, fourth placed Parvez Ahmed was beaten in a tough match by the third placed Akaash Ashok Kumar. Parvez won the first game with a score of 197-194 but an open second frame in the game 2 finally cost Parvez the match and he lost the second game with the score line 191-204.Akaash faced second placed Dhruv Sarda in the second match and this evenly poised match went down to the last frame and ended up in a 214-214 tie. But based on the format's rules, Dhruv progressed to the finals.
In the step ladder round for women, Anukriti Bishnoi of Haryana beat third placed Kashmira of Maharashtra146.
