Express News Service

BENGALURU: The state government on Wednesday informed the High Court that it will take final call in a week on posting a judicial officer as registrar of the Lokayukta.

The submission was made by the government advocate before a division bench of acting Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee and Justice B Manohar.

The bench is hearing PIL filed by R Ananda Murthy, an advocate, who had challenged the posting of IAS officer P C Jaffer as the registrar on August 6, 2015.

The government advocate submitted that Advocate General Madhusudan R Naik spoke to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Law Minister T B Jayachandra on the appointment of the registrar. The government will take a final call within a week, he informed the court.

Taking note of it, the bench adjourned the matter to January 11. It may be noted that during the last hearing, the bench had asked the advocate general to take up the matter with the government and take steps to fill the post expeditiously.
