Express News Service

BENGALURU: Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala on Saturday said that only Ayurvedic medicine has the ability to permanently cure an ailing individual without any side-effects.

Delivering the inaugural address at a two-day international conference on ‘Traditions of Ayurveda, Yoga and Vedanta - Classical Perspectives and Modern Perceptions’, the Governor said allopathy has the ability to bring any disease under control, but Ayurveda alone has the ability to cure it permanently.

Recalling ancient India’s glorious past, Vala said that students world over once used to make a beeline to Indian learning institutions in pursuit of knowledge.

Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Ananth Kumar hailed Prime Minister Modi for his initiative in making the United Nations declare June 21 as ‘International Yoga Day’.

State Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Dinesh Gundu Rao called for backing research on Yoga, Ayurveda and Vedanta. These traditional Hindu disciplines make one energetic and healthy as well as improve work output, he said.  No religion in the world has endeavoured to improve the quality of life as Hinduism does, the minister claimed.

Dwelling on the intellectual wealth of ancient India, Dinesh said sages were aware of astrophysics and other sciences which are talked about only now. Department of AYUSH Director Vijay Kumar Yogi called for demystifying the Vedas for the understaing of the common man.
