BENGALURU: The B.PAC Civic Leadership Incubator Programme (B.CLIP), in association with various residents’ welfare associations (RWAs), organised a waste management awareness programme here on Saturday.
As part of this initiative, B.CLIP members, along with local elected representatives, RWA members and pourakarmikas, will conduct many awareness programmes.
Speaking to Express, Nataraja Gowda, B.CLIP member, said they selected two black spots in Nagapura and Shivanagar wards in Rajajinagar constituency. “The spots were cleaned and painted. We also planted saplings. A volunteer has been assigned to water these saplings as well as ensure that the place is kept clean,” he said.
Later, B.CLIP members organised a training programme for pourakarmikas after which they were felicitated.
“We asked the pourakarmikas to collect only segregated waste and transport it without mixing it,” he said.
This apart, the members went door-to-door, campaigning on waste disposal.
The next awareness programme will be held at Kottigepalya and Jnana Bharathi wards of Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency.
Former deputy mayor S Harish, who represents Nagapura ward, told Express that there were close to 50 black spots in his ward some four years ago. “Now it has reduced to five, one of which was cleared on Saturday,” he added.
