Illegal Flexes: B.PAC Plaint to Lokayukta

Express News Service

BENGALURU: Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC) on Friday filed a complaint with the Lokayukta over illegal hoardings in the city. A B.PAC team inspected 15 locations on Friday and identified 150 unauthorised hoardings. Along with the complaint, photographs of the hoardings have been submitted to Upa Lokayukta Justice Subash Adi.

In the complaint, B.PAC members said the Karnataka Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1981, has provision to book cases against illegal hoardings.

The hoardings are in violation of a High Court order and BBMP guidelines, they said, adding that not only do these deface the cityscape, the civic body is also losing on advertisement tax. B.PAC vice-president T V Mohandas Pai told Express that BBMP officials are responsible for rampant display of illegal hoardings .
