QUEEN’S ROAD:  Bengaluru’s Akash Gowda of Team Meco Racing prevailed in the finals of the 12th JK Tyre-FMSCI National Karting Championship at the Chicane circuit in Hyderabad on June 21.This was the first round in the Junior Max category and Akash Gowda had to battle it out before piping Mohammed Nallwala to the victory post.

Akash had won the Amaron National Karting Challenge in 2011 and was the second runner-up in the JK Tyre National Rotax Max Karting Championship India, the same year. He was also the fourth runner-up in the All Star Karting Challenge in Malaysia in 2011 apart from being the second runner-up in the JK Tyre National Rotax Max Rookie Cup in 2011.

Akash made his debut in 2011. Competing in the Amaron Karting Challenge, he amazed everyone in his debut season itself by winning the National Amaron Karting Challenge 2011.

Though Akash entered the world of competitive karting, he wasn’t satisfied. His thirst to do more brought him to Akbar Ebrahim - legendary racer, motorsports guru and the first Indian to race internationally. Akbar has trained almost all the racers from India who are currently racing on the international circuit, including his son Armaan Ebrahim.

“Akash Gowda is a very pleasant young man with an abundance of talent, added to which is his honesty - a very rare trait in the modern racing world. This integrity helps Akash to be tougher on himself and to work harder so as to further improve his karting and driving skills,” said Akbar about his protege on his website.

"Akash has also raced twice in Malaysia in the Asia Max Karting Championship, finishing first in the mid-field. Akash has a potentially glorious future in the sport, and we hope to see him go places,” he added.

Passion, promise and professionalism are the signs of a true learner and a true champion. Akash has been growing steadily with these attributes. After excelling at karting, he has now moved up the ladder to race in JK Tyre Racing Championship - Formula BMW and JK Tyre National Racing Championship - Formula LGB, also bagging a podium. Thus the metamorphosis continues in 2013.

In 2014, Akash was in action in the JK Tyre Racing Championship Formula BMW, JK Tyre National Racing Championship LGB Formula Swift, the Rotax Max Karting Challenge Asia Series and the JK Tyre Rotax Max National Karting Championship India.

Akash has already tasted  success this year in the Junior Max category and drivers are sure to keep an eye on him as he tries to apply the brakes on their winning streak while scooping up the honours himself.

Most recently, Akash has graduated to the next level. Akash believes that hard work will enable him to ascend many podiums, race after race.
