BENGALURU: The 36-year-old owner of Kolimane, a chain of eateries, allegedly killed his wife and mother in-law on Monday.

Kumar, who surrendered before the Vijayanagar police after stabbing them to death, claimed he was upset over his wife’s infidelity.

The victims are Vasantha (34) and her mother Leelamma (61). The couple were living in Attiguppe near Chandra Layout, where Kumar runs one of his three eateries,  specialising in chicken dishes.

The couple have a 10-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son. A senior police officer told Express the crime took place around 5.30 pm.

Kumar followed his wife Vasantha, who was visiting her mother’s house in RPC Layout, near Manuvana. He picked up a quarrel with her and allegedly stabbed her before slitting her throat. He also attacked Leelamma, who had rushed to Vasantha’s rescue. Police said Kumar then rode away on his two-wheeler. Lakshmi, Vasantha’s younger sister who lives nearby, found the bodies lying in a pool of blood and alerted the police.
